What is Lumecca?

Lumecca is one of the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments, which can improve the appearance of age spots, rosacea, thread veins and scarring.

Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body and the most common areas are those regularly exposed to the sun. This typically includes the face, neck and décolletage, legs, hands and arms.

Post 1 - 3 treatments, you should notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of your skin and we have dual handpieces providing differing wavelength spectrums, to allow for safe treatment of darker skin types.

What are the benefits?

Lumecca improves the appearance of age spots, sun damage, rosacea, freckles, vascular lesions (thread veins, spider veins, port wine stains, telangiectasiae), uneven skin tone and pigmentatio and can combine with complimentary treatments such as Morpheus8, for those wanting to target jowls or sagging skin.

What steps must be taken before the procedure?

It’s extremely important to avoid direct and prolonged sun exposure, as well as all forms of UV tanning, for a minimun of 1 month prior to treatment and 2 weeks pre your visit.

What should I expect during & after Lumecca?

Throughout the treatment, there will be a bright flash of light which creates an elastic-like sensation. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal post procedure and this typically subsides within around an hour.

Over the next 24 - 48 hours, you may notice darkening of pigmented spots and in the following weeks, lesions will flake off - promoting a more even skin tone. After treating vascular lesions, you may spot veins blanch and disappear or a colour change across your complexion, which will dissipate over the following few days.

How many sessions is typical?

An improved appearance of the skin can be achieved after the first treatment. Multiple sessions provide even better results and your personalised regime will depend on the severity of damage, skin type, areas of focus (vascular vs sun exposure etc) and energy settings we are able to opt for.

How quickly will I see results?

Changes to sun damage and tone can typically be seen a few days after your first session. The skin will continue to look younger and more vibrant over time, with the most visible results experienced after 1 - 2 weeks. Multiple Lumecca sessions will improve the final outcome, and, for vascular treatments such as facial telangiectasias, improvements will enhance at around 2 weeks.

Will there be any side effects?

Most patients do not experience side effects and common skin reactions like redness, usually resolve within a few hours. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment and it’s highly recommended to avoid direct sunlight / tanning for 1 month prior treatment.
