Close up of a woman’s lips

With the rise in popularity of non-surgical cosmetic procedures - including dermal fillers - more and more people are opting for facial treatments to enhance their natural features. Amongst the most requested procedures we offer at our Sheffield-based skincare clinic is lip enhancement - which plumps, corrects and smooths out wrinkles. Despite the popularity of this treatment, it is natural to have some questions about it and while a consultation with our aesthetic nurses can tell you everything you need to know, we understand that you may want to learn as much as you can before considering booking an appointment. So, here you will find a list of frequently asked questions about lip fillers and what to expect from your treatment …

How much does lip filler cost?

We require clients to attend an in-clinic consulation prior to enhancement treatment and offer a free 1 hour consulation with our clinical director, Hannah, to discuss what look you what to achieve.

A £50 deposit is requested to secure your consultation spot and there is no obligation to purchase a treatment, we only retain for ‘no shows’ and if you decide to go ahead with any advised procedures.

In that case, the deposit will be deducted form the final cost of your treatment on the day, or refunded, should you feel that proceeding with a procedure isn’t right for you.

During the consultation, Hannah will discuss which is the best product to acheive your vision, as we offer 2 types of filler for lip enhancement: standard and premium.

Lip enhancement starts at £180 for 0.5ml and £270 for 1ml and we also offer payment plan options.

Does lip filler treatment hurt?

Any injection into the facial features isn’t going to be totally free of discomfort, however most of our clients feedback that the pain during treatment is not as bad as envisioned.

A numbing cream is applied to your lips beforehand, which makes the procedure more comfortable and practitioners use a dental block prior to injection, though please note that this is not part of our treatment here at Eterno Aesthetics, as in the rare event of a complication occurring, a dental block can mask the signs and symptoms.

What are lip fillers made from?

At Eterno Aesthetics, we only provide temporary dermal fillers, made from a colourless gel called hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance, which as we age, we stop producing. This is one of the reasons we start to see wrinkles appear and the skin begins to sag.

Ageing around the lip shows in the form of thinning, dehydration and lack of structure. Lines also appear above the lip, often called smokers lines, but even people who don’t smoke still get these.

Is lip filler enhancement safe?

Lip fillers are a non-surgical treatment, and, like all medical procedures, there are always risks associated.

However, if performed by an experienced and qualified medical practitioner, such as here at Eterno, it’s MUCH safer.

There is very little regulation in the UK for those who can offer dermal filler treatments - in fact, anyone who advertises the treatment can do it! But be aware, becuase non-medical practitioners are not able to treat you or prescribe suitable mediciation should anything unexpected happen. So it is essential to research who will be carrying out your treatment - and the qualifications they hold - even if it means paying more.

Will I end up with a trout pout?

No … not if you choose a medical practitioner who is extensively trained in facial assessment and truly knows how to enhance your natural features - not overpower them! Nurse Hannah specialises in lip augmentation and it is one of our most sought-after treatments, becuase we use only the very best products and practices on the market.
